Devyani grew up in Pune, India, into a family steeped in spiritual and philosophical traditions; it was her Sanskrit-scholar mother who inspired her journey into understanding the subtle aspects of yoga and spirituality through the study of original scriptural texts. A certified yoga teacher from Kaivalyadham, Devyani is a source of motivation to her students with her focused yet lively approach. She believes that yoga is more than a fitness practice and has the potential to transform thoughts, actions, and perspectives at the individual as well as social level. Her aim in founding Yoga Urja is to make yoga accessible and relevant to people of varied professions, lifestyles, temperaments and needs. At the same time, she seeks to demystify the concepts of Yoga and preserve it from the new age trends, highlighting the inward journey through her teachings.
